Principal
Alan Alpass was admitted to practice in 1975 and, in the same year, opened his legal practice, Alpass & Associates in Kilsyth. After initially specialising in personal injury and crime, Alan broadened the scope of the firm to include family law, estate disputes and commercial law.
Alan’s 45 plus years in legal practice has given him extensive experience in multiple areas of law, including estate litigation, commercial disputes, sale and purchase of businesses, general litigation in all Courts and Tribunals, family law, employment law, Wills, Powers of Attorney and conveyancing/property law.
This experience has seen Alan act as executor for many deceased estates and as Power of Attorney for numerous clients.
Alan has been called upon to act for not-for-profit entities, including numerous RSL Sub-Branches across the State.
During the last 15 years, Alan has been a member of a panel of experienced lawyers who receive instructions from the Victorian Legal Services Board + Commissioner to undertake external interventions into law firms that require supervision, audit compliance, management and/or receivership. Very few lawyers are appointed to this panel and, even then, only those with very high levels of experience.
Recognition
Alan was awarded a Bachelor of Jurisprudence and a Bachelor of Laws from Monash University in 1974. Until recently, Alan was a Fellow of the Taxation Institute of Australia.
In 2021, Alan published a book titled “Grass Roots – Adventures of a Suburban Lawyer”. Whilst the book is humorous and sometimes harrowing, it is a respectfully related reflection upon client battles at the grass roots.
Alan has received hundreds of 5 star client reviews. He is available for client consultations at both the Kilsyth and Rosebud offices.
