Victims of Crime Applications

Assistance from the Victims of Crime Assistance Tribunal (“VOCAT”) is available to any person that has suffered either physical or emotional injury as a result of an act of violence, which occurred in Victoria and is punishable on conviction by imprisonment and has been or is about to be reported to Victoria Police.

We understand the trauma associated with being a victim of any crime. Where you have suffered physical or psychological injuries you are entitled to recover a small amount of assistance from the Tribunal. We will work closely with you and your counsellors to assist you in bringing your claim. We will see that your claim is dealt with discreetly, sympathetically and as efficiently as possible. Delays are usually the result of waiting for medical conditions to be properly assessed.

Remember that VOCAT generally makes Orders that not only provide compensation but also covers legal costs.
